I saw a really great antiqued finish on a console table at Homegoods recently and I knew I wanted to duplicate it. This coffee & end table set was the perfect choice to try it on.

Coffee & End Table Set

This set is solid wood, which is SO hard to find nowadays. I painted it with a super pale gray that has a hint of blue in it. Then lightly distressed the edges and added a little bit of gray glaze pinstriping. It’s pale enough that it can be used like a neutral.

Round Pottery Barn Coffee Table

My customer brought me this gorgeous, glazed Pottery Barn table and asked for it to be painted white, and then distressed. This updated finish is much more shabby chic and will fit into almost any decor now.

Oval Rustic Coffee Table

IMG_8036
This table was brought to me by a customer who wanted to update it from cream, to black. The finish was extremely rough and you could see lots of brush strokes. I stripped off 3 layers of paint and smoothed out the surface as much as possible, then coated it with a warm black paint. A little distressing along the edges helped give it that rustic, lived in look. I left a little bit of the old paint underneath so that it would show through on the distressed edges. Very shabby chic!

Scandinavian Ottoman/Bench

This item has been sold OttomanBenchIsn’t this table unbelievable? I’m so in love with it. The awesome details (like the fluted legs), the size….and now it can be used as either an ottoman/coffee table, OR an upholstered bench.  Wouldn’t this be great at the end of your bed?!  The table was painted white and then antiqued with a gray glaze

Pine Farmhouse Coffee Table

This item has been sold IMG_7525

Simple farmhouse style coffee table. Solid pine. This one just screamed to be painted and distressed!  I gave it a few coats of a creamy antique white, called Casa Blanca, from Sherwin Williams, and then distressed the edges just a little.  It also got a thin pinstripe of glaze right in the groove on the top edge.  So cute!

Maple coffee & end table set

Gorgeous, solid wood coffee table and end table set. Really pretty details on the legs. They started with a horrible orangey polyurethaned finish, but I transformed them with a pale greenish blue paint from Behr called Frozen Pond.  The tops got a dark walnut stain topped with polycrylic for durability.

Pine 3-piece table set

What a change with these 3, pine pieces! With some paint, stain, and a little strategic distressing, these boring pieces went from blah to cottage chic! My customer’s pieces were tired and a little beat up. Not a good match for her new custom built home. The original plan was to make them pop with one of my favorite colors, Quaint Village Green. But with a house full of 4 small kids we knew they’d take a lot of abuse and decided on stain for the top. The weathered gray stain will take all the abuse they’ll be able to throw at them and probably look even better in the long run! The baskets got a new lease on life as well, with some glossy white paint.

World Market pine coffee table

Once I started sanding this table down all my plans went right out the window. I was originally thinking that I’d paint the base white, and give the top a dark, rich brown stain. But once I started sanding I started thinking about how great this would look with a really weathered base…..sort of like how old pallets look when they’ve been left out in the elements for years.

Broyhill 4-drawer coffee table

Oh, this poor little coffee table. It’s definitely been through the mill…..a chewed off corner, nailpolish, scratches, you name it. But nothing some epoxy, wood filler and a little sanding can’t cure.
