MCM Lane End Table/Nightstand

This item has been soldIMG_8485
I was a bit saddened to find that someone had painted this elegant little vintage Mid-Century Modern (MCM) end table. Which, coming from someone who paints everything, is HUGE! Such beautiful walnut (I’m assuming) all covered up with a horrible, cut rate paint job. According to the serial number, this piece dates to 1962. So, with a bit of elbow grease, I was able to strip off all the ivory paint so you could once again see the beautiful grain. Some gray stain modernized the piece and gave it more off an industrial/rustic edge. But you know I can’t leave well enough alone right? So I added a subtle sheen of metallic paint in the form of a stencil around the top edges. A little bit more gray stain on top of the paint and it softened the edges a bit more.
The bottom was painted in a beautiful seafoam blue. It’s soft enough that it could read as a neutral, or use it as a pop of color in your room.  A tiny bit of distressing was added to the edges just to give it a bit more dimension and texture.
What’s even better about this piece you ask? If you position it the wide way, it would make a fantastic night stand. Position it the narrower way and it’s an end table. I can totally see this sitting next to a bed! That bottom shelf is just calling out for a basket to hold all your stuff!

Duncan Phyfe table & 6 chairs

This item has been sold IMG_8575
Vintage Duncan Phyfe style mahogany pedestal table. This table was in relatively good condition when I found it, so all it needed was a little freshening up. I did this by stripping the top and giving it a rich, dark Kona stain, and painting the pedestals with a pale beige. I made the details pop out by adding a mocha glaze and distressing the edges just a tiny bit. Now this table is ready for all your family gatherings.  It includes a 12″ leaf so you can easily fit up to 8 people!

The matching set of 6 vintage chairs coordinate perfectly. They have also been updated with a richer stain, new foam and gorgeous yellow and cream fabric.  The set includes 1 captain’s chair with arms, and 5 side chairs.

Pottery Barn Dining Set

This item has been sold IMG_7713
I just found this (soon-to-be) amazing Pottery Barn table and chairs set. Yes, it’s seen better days, but by the time I’m done you won’t even recognize it anymore. The rush seat bases aren’t fixable, sadly, so the current plan is to make new seat bases and stain them, and paint the remainder of the chairs as well as the skirt and legs of the table. The tabletop will be stained to match the seat bases.

Cane back chairs – Set of 4

CaneTableSet01
Old school cane backed chairs.  2 side chairs and 2 arm chairs.  This retro set goes with the Oval Dining Table.

I ended up painting & staining these chairs to match a cherry dining table that a customer of mine brought to me to refinish.  We chose a creamy white paint for the skirt and legs on the table and used the same paint on the caning in the chairs.  The remainder of the chairs, as well as the top of the table received a rich, Kona brown stain.  The seats were reupholstered in a taupe & cream ikat print.

Oval-ish Oak Dining Table

This solid oak table had quite a 70s vibe going on when I found it. But the beautiful shape, and intricate carved details, screamed to be showcased with some paint and glaze! My customer chose Glidden’s Teal Lake with a dark gray stained top.

It easily seats 6 without the leaf, and 8 with it.

I found this set when googling one night and I think it has the exact same vibe we’re going for with ours:

Rock Maple table with 4 chairs

This item has been soldimage

Solid rock maple kitchen or dining room table. If you’re looking for a super solid, durable table to withstand years of hard use, then this is the table for you.  The legs are a glossy, light gray.  For the top I did a paint wash, which is a mix of part water, part paint. This gave it just the right shade of gray, so you can still see the beautiful wood. The set of 4 matching chairs have been updated with the same paint as the table base, new foam and designer fabric in the same gray tones. All pieces are solid wood, which is hard to find these days!

Vintage Mahogany Coffee Table

As soon as I saw this coffee table I knew I had to rescue it from it’s misery. It had definitely been well loved…..a weird paint finish…nail polish…sparkles. You name it, this coffee table had it. But I can see through all that. I see the pretty details….the brass casters…and the quality.  I sanded it all down smooth, gave it a creamy taupe paint job, added a hint of glaze, and finished it off with an espresso stain on the top.  Perfection!

Modern Duncan Phyfe style

This item has been soldIMG_6720
Oh yes I did! I’ve done so many unbelievable makeovers on vintage Duncan Phyfe style tables, for my wonderful customers. And after each one I was so sad to see it go. It seemed like it would be the perfect choice for our kitchen. I really was going for a beachy, aged look. But after living it for a while the rest of the family decided that we really needed to go back to a round table in our kitchen. And since my look was so specific for our home (gray, weathered wood), I felt like I needed to change it up a bit before selling. The dark is a rich, dark walnut.  The double pedestals received a satin creamy white, with light distressing.  And the table retains it’s original brass toe caps.

This table will fit 6 comfortably without the leaf, and 8 with it. Take a look at the 2 transformations! [Read more…]

Oak dining table set

This table and set of 6 chairs had seen much better days. After years of abuse from 3 children it was time for a change. We chose a  fresh white paint to replace the distressed ivory paint, and dark walnut stain to update the natural finish on the top and seats. Now, this solid, dependable set, will take the family through another decade or more!
