I scored big on this table. The owners were practically giving it away. But as you can probably imagine, that was for good reason. It was in rough, and I mean ROUGH, shape.
The finish was….goopy, shall we say??? It looked as though they made some attempts at rescuing it in the past. Possibly with shellac at some point. And after I removed layers and layers of shellac and stain I realized that there were big spots of plastic-like filler. Sadly, that’s why I ended up painting it instead of restaining it. Of course I had spent hours upon hours of stripping before realizing that I couldn’t do anything to save those areas. Oh well. My paint, your gain!
I painted the entire piece with a bright teal, then layered a creamy antique white over the top. That way, when I distressed it, a tiny bit of aqua peeks through. Shabby perfection.
