Vintage Rattan chair

I’ve been coveting bamboo and rattan furniture these days, for some strange reason. Faux, real….it didn’t really matter. But whenever I see a great bamboo piece it’s WAY out of my price range. So when this authentic, vintage rattan chair suddenly appeared one day I snatched it up. The prep work with this piece was horrifying. Absolutely horrifying. The seat base was completely rotted out and had to be replaced. There were several layers of white paint, which turned to chalk dust as I was sanding. I looked like a giant chalk monster each night, after I put my handy Craftsman Mouse away. I was covered with it from head to toe. And some of the rattan had started to loosen. But I could tell just by looking at this piece…..with a little TLC, okay a LOT of TLC, this was going to be one fantastic piece at the end. And I was right. Look!
