I was SO excited to get my hands on another Duncan Phyfe style table. If you recall, I did another one, for a customer, a couple of months ago. It came out so gorgeous, and I got so many requests for it, that I’ve been on the lookout for another one ever since. And yesterday was my lucky day…..found this baby on Craigslist. Phenomenal!
The top was stripped down to the bare wood, which revealed a gorgeous mahogany grain. I believe it’s a Honduran Mahogany, which has a distinct orange color. So pretty. But not many households are into orange toned wood these days, sadly, which is why I gave it this rich brown shade. It still shows the gorgeous grain through it, but will fit in with just about any current decors. It also received 4 coats of hand rubbed satin poly so it’ll stand up to just about anything you could throw at it.
The pedestal bases were given a warm gray tone, and then lightly distressed. If you’ve noticed on my other pieces, I don’t go crazy with the distressing like a lot of people are doing these days. I do just enough….and only in areas that would naturally get distressed. The pedestals were then sealed with wax for extra protection.
I could see this fantastic table in a kitchen, a dining room, or even as a desk.
