This vintage pine dresser and nightstand had been painted brown and the owner was hoping to go with a rich, dark brown stain instead. So I stripped it down to the bare wood, sanded it nice and smooth and then had to tackle all of the odd stains around the handle holes. Nothing that a little wood bleach can’t handle though!

Ok, I hit problem #2. Once all the paint was removed from the nightstand, I realized that it didn’t have the same construction as the matching dresser. The sides are pressed wood, covered with a paper laminate. And the top was just a pine veneer over MDF, which is what shows around the edge of the top. Worst case scenario, neither part will hold the stain the same way….best case, no one will ever know!
