I found these adorable reproduction Hitchcock chairs online when I was searching for chairs suitable for making a small bench. When nestled in next to each other they make the perfect sized bench for an entry foyer, for putting on your shoes in the morning. It’s the perfect sized bench for the foyer that’s not too large.

Country dining set
This 5-piece dining set had seen better days. Lots of daily use had taken a toll. Not to mention the colors were feeling a bit dated. My customer wanted to use it in her dining room and knew she wanted a white/gray combo but didn’t know exactly how to incorporate that. Our solution? To lighten it up and change the color scheme. The top and the 4 chairs were painted gray. The table skirt and pedestal went white. We used a cool gray that complimented the darker gray on her walls.

Depression Era Dining Table & 3 Chairs
I’m loving the legs on this vintage, wood Depression Era table. Not the routine, 4 leg, or pedestal style. Instead it has 6 legs. The table, more than likely, dates back to the early 30’s and is surprisingly good condition for a table of this age. The plan, at the moment, is to restain the top, but paint the base and skirt. There’s only 3 chairs at the moment but I’m going to start searching for a 4th, to complete the set.

Vintage Jacobean Dining Set
This unbelievable Jacobean, oak dining table set had been my customer’s family for decades. It’s constructed of solid oak and meant to last several generations. But after my customer’s first unsuccessful try at staining it gray, she brought it to me and explained her vision. No more dark blue-gray. It needed to be a soft, warm, taupe-gray. so that it would blend in with her elegant dining room features. I ended up mixing a paint wash of the same paint color we used on the base, and used it to “stain” the table top. It was the perfect solution!

Rock Maple Captain’s Chairs
This was a major score. A set of 2 captain’s chairs in super heavy rock maple. Overall they’re in great shape. A few scratches and nicks….the downside was really the fabric. The foam beneath the fabric felt hard and crumbly to the touch. And when I finally removed the 2 layers of hideous fabric I discovered that the foam had completely disintegrated and turned to sand. Blech!

Cane back chairs – Set of 4
Old school cane backed chairs. 2 side chairs and 2 arm chairs. This retro set goes with the Oval Dining Table.
I ended up painting & staining these chairs to match a cherry dining table that a customer of mine brought to me to refinish. We chose a creamy white paint for the skirt and legs on the table and used the same paint on the caning in the chairs. The remainder of the chairs, as well as the top of the table received a rich, Kona brown stain. The seats were reupholstered in a taupe & cream ikat print.
