MCM Lane End Table/Nightstand

This item has been soldIMG_8485
I was a bit saddened to find that someone had painted this elegant little vintage Mid-Century Modern (MCM) end table. Which, coming from someone who paints everything, is HUGE! Such beautiful walnut (I’m assuming) all covered up with a horrible, cut rate paint job. According to the serial number, this piece dates to 1962. So, with a bit of elbow grease, I was able to strip off all the ivory paint so you could once again see the beautiful grain. Some gray stain modernized the piece and gave it more off an industrial/rustic edge. But you know I can’t leave well enough alone right? So I added a subtle sheen of metallic paint in the form of a stencil around the top edges. A little bit more gray stain on top of the paint and it softened the edges a bit more.
The bottom was painted in a beautiful seafoam blue. It’s soft enough that it could read as a neutral, or use it as a pop of color in your room.  A tiny bit of distressing was added to the edges just to give it a bit more dimension and texture.
What’s even better about this piece you ask? If you position it the wide way, it would make a fantastic night stand. Position it the narrower way and it’s an end table. I can totally see this sitting next to a bed! That bottom shelf is just calling out for a basket to hold all your stuff!

Scandinavian Ottoman/Bench

This item has been sold OttomanBenchIsn’t this table unbelievable? I’m so in love with it. The awesome details (like the fluted legs), the size….and now it can be used as either an ottoman/coffee table, OR an upholstered bench.  Wouldn’t this be great at the end of your bed?!  The table was painted white and then antiqued with a gray glaze

Whitewashed butcherblock table

This item has been sold IMG_7397This is a solid maple, butcher block style table.  I whitewashed it to give it a very cottage, beachey vibe.  The skirt and legs were warmed up with a very taupey gray paint.  Now it just needs a little sand underneath!

60″ Round Oak Pedestal Table

And because it’s round it’ll be easier for your guests to maneuver around, especially in smaller rooms. It’s solid oak, with a funky pedestal, and brass details on the feet.

1980s Brass Lamps – Set of 2

I definitely don’t miss 80s styles, but I do miss the quality of some home decor items – like these (formerly) brassy lamps.  They’re super solid (won’t tip!), and made to last.  And now, with a new modern paint job, they’ll fit right into your 2015 decor.  I think I’m having a flashback…..I can see some version of these in every one of my friends’ houses growing up!

Oval-ish Oak Dining Table

This item has been sold IMG_7380
This solid oak table had quite a 70s vibe going on when I found it. But the beautiful shape, and intricate carved details, screamed to be showcased with some paint and glaze! My customer chose Glidden’s Teal Lake with a dark gray stained top.

It easily seats 6 without the leaf, and 8 with it.

I found this set when googling one night and I think it has the exact same vibe we’re going for with ours:

Rock Maple table with 4 chairs

This item has been soldimage

Solid rock maple kitchen or dining room table. If you’re looking for a super solid, durable table to withstand years of hard use, then this is the table for you.  The legs are a glossy, light gray.  For the top I did a paint wash, which is a mix of part water, part paint. This gave it just the right shade of gray, so you can still see the beautiful wood. The set of 4 matching chairs have been updated with the same paint as the table base, new foam and designer fabric in the same gray tones. All pieces are solid wood, which is hard to find these days!

Pine 3-piece table set

This item has been sold3 piece table set 15

What a change with these 3, pine pieces! With some paint, stain, and a little strategic distressing, these boring pieces went from blah to cottage chic! My customer’s pieces were tired and a little beat up. Not a good match for her new custom built home. The original plan was to make them pop with one of my favorite colors, Quaint Village Green. But with a house full of 4 small kids we knew they’d take a lot of abuse and decided on stain for the top. The weathered gray stain will take all the abuse they’ll be able to throw at them and probably look even better in the long run! The baskets got a new lease on life as well, with some glossy white paint.

I was SO excited to get my hands on another Duncan Phyfe style table. If you recall, I did another one, for a customer, a couple of months ago. It came out so gorgeous, and I got so many requests for it, that I’ve been on the lookout for another one ever since. And yesterday was my lucky day…..found this baby on Craigslist. Phenomenal!
