I first saw a campaign dresser when I was looking for a hack for my Ikea nightstands. Campaign furniture was initially made for travel, by military personnel, to be used on military campaigns. Hence the name. I just loved the slightly industrial, vintage vibe it has. It looks great with the natural, stained wood, or painted. Right now, I’ve got my sights set on something that I can turn into a great, stained, campaign piece! So stay tuned.
Pipe & 2×12 Bookshelf
I’ve been seeing these shelves and tables all over Pinterest, so of course I had to make one for myself. I used galvanized pipe, flanges and connectors, and then added casters underneath so that I could move it to clean. The wood shelves are simple 2×12’s. All the parts are available at Home Depot. You can even have the pipes cut to size and threaded there!
The picture above shows them unfinished. I was going for the really rustic look. But then I ended up using up some leftover stain to deepen the color a bit. See pics below.
Old bench table
I was scouring Craigslist one day, looking for a new kitchen table for myself. Or at least something I could turn into a kitchen table. And I came across the coolest looking vintage workbench. I absolutely loved the shape and size and thought it might make the perfect table for my kitchen. It was pretty dingy and beat up so I made a new, large top for it, which I just screwed to the existing top, And then I added a new wood top to the shelf below so it would match. Then the entire lower shelf was wrapped in new wood trim so that when I painted it, it would be nice and smooth. The top and the shelf got a beautiful coat of black stain. And the remainder of the table got a beach glass blue paint. It fits 4-6 adults comfortably.
