This set is solid wood, which is SO hard to find nowadays. I painted it with a super pale gray that has a hint of blue in it. Then lightly distressed the edges and added a little bit of gray glaze pinstriping. It’s pale enough that it can be used like a neutral.

Coffee & End Table Set
Iron base end tables
There was absolutely nothing wrong with these solid, workhorse end tables. They’re solid wood (which is almost unheard of today!), and they had heavy duty iron bases. The rich espresso color was just feeling a bit dark and dated. So to liven things up a bit I painted them with a bright white paint then distressed the edges (as usual). But I mean, c’mon…..if I don’t distress them then the kids surely will. I’m just beating them to the punchline.

Thomasville Furniture Nesting Tables
This set of 3 nesting tables from Thomasville Furniture was still structurally sound when I found them. They tops had some blemishes and scratches, but I knew there was still a ton of life left in them. I actually couldn’t find any marks on them verifying that they were Thomasville but the family I bought them from assured me that’s where they purchased them from.

Set of 2 Narrow Cherry End Tables
Set of 2, narrow cherry end tables. Each have 1 small drawer on the lower shelf. These nice petite tables are perfect for the family room or living room that are tight on space. They were given a beachy vibe with pale taupe paint and topped with a white glaze. We even kept the original pulls and just gave them an update with paint.

Crate tables
I’ve always had a thing for old crates. Especially Coke crates since I’m a Diet Coke addict (my name is Kristen and I’m a Diet Coke addict). But I never really had a great use for crates. Maybe if my house were a bit larger, I’d store rolled up bath towels in them and leave them next to the clawfoot tub….or perhaps they’d store dry goods in my extra large walk-in pantry….or how about organizing the kids toys on the built-in shelves in the bonus room. All those ideas are fantastic but unfortunately for me, I don’t have any of those spaces in my current house. Boo.
So when I ran across these pics when googling something the other day I thought AHA!, that’s it. That’s a use for crates that I could work with now, in my tiny, cramped house. Now I just need to hunt some down. And you know, now that I’m looking for them I’ll never find them!
Pine 3-piece table set
What a change with these 3, pine pieces! With some paint, stain, and a little strategic distressing, these boring pieces went from blah to cottage chic! My customer’s pieces were tired and a little beat up. Not a good match for her new custom built home. The original plan was to make them pop with one of my favorite colors, Quaint Village Green. But with a house full of 4 small kids we knew they’d take a lot of abuse and decided on stain for the top. The weathered gray stain will take all the abuse they’ll be able to throw at them and probably look even better in the long run! The baskets got a new lease on life as well, with some glossy white paint.
